An opportunity to learn basic weave design on graph paper, then plan, make a warp and learn how to set up a table loom for weaving, and finally approximately one day of weaving at the end of the workshop. All of this will be under the expert tutelage of Sam Goates. Sam is a very talented weaver who has her own textile design and consultancy business in Moray, and is involved in the development of qualifications and training for the Scottish textile industry, which started with the first nationally accredited qualification for Harris Tweed Weavers and has now expanded across mainland Scotland.

Participants are asked to bring along a photograph of a Scottish landscape as inspiration for their colour & design selections.

Lyndsey’s twelve year entrepreneurial journey has taken her from owning a high street, fifty-seater coffee house, a gift shop and portrait studio to becoming a freelance photographer/stylist working with Indie businesses UK wide.

Lyndsey’s workshops and courses are held in beautiful locations, the perfect pick-me-up day out for indie business owners who would like a little nudge in the right direction, and to meet other like minded businesses.

Running an Indie Business – Marketing & Business Skills for Crafters and Artists

The course looks at the opportunities to improve marketing and business skills within creative ‘indie businesses’, aimed at those who are just setting up a craft or art business, want to turn their hobby into a dream job, or those who are established but still in need of a boost. The course is a fun day with an emphasis on improving/streamlining your business so that it becomes your dream job. The day contains a mixture of short talks, practical workshops and creative chatter (also with tea and cake). Packed full of inspirational stories, business tips/shortcuts and marketing ideas for tight budgets, you will leave inspired to change the way you work, feel like a confident, proud business owner and be bursting with creative marketing ideas for your business.

Photograph Your Craft – Camera SkillsLearn to Photograph Your Craft!

This course is all about teaching you no-jargon photography for beginners, so all you happy crafters can get to grips with the settings on your compact or SLR cameras. This one day course is aimed at ‘Kitchen Table’ businesses, artists and crafters. The day contains a mixture of short talks, practical workshops and creative chatter (with tea and cake!). Packed full of technical lessons (minus the jargon), and hints and tips for creating beautiful shots that show off your products. You will leave inspired to pick up your camera with confidence, and also be confident when it comes to upgrading your camera.

Photograph Your Craft — Styling Skills

Sun 15th September
10am-5pm, lunch & refreshments included
Cost: £150 (£125 EARLY BIRD PRICE – book before July 13th!)

The perfect follow up to camera skills, this course teaches photo styling to beginners so you get to learn all the best hints and tips for styling your own products; improving your product photographs (and your sales!). Aimed at crafters and artists with basic photography skills and knowledge of how to use their camera without the use of flash, all tips and tricks you can pick up from the Camera Skills workshop the day before! Styling Skills is packed full of practical styling lessons, the use of Lyndsey’s own vintage props, flowers and lighting to help you understand the art of propping and styling your photos. With plenty of time to play with delightful props alongside your own products; you will leave inspired to go prop hunting yourself, and itching to start taking your own beautifully styled product piccies.

If you book any one of these workshops before the 13th of July, you get to pay the early bird price, and save yourself £25!

Can’t choose? If you book two workshops the two days will cost you £270 (or £230 for early birds), and if you book all three workshops you get them for £350 (or £300 for all you early birds!)
